Broadway will be closed between Liberty Street and Battery Place for the Veterans Day Festival. Additionally, the Madison Square Park Conservancy says the gravel and Broadway side entryways to the park will be closed starting at 6 a.m. Monday, and the Dog Run will be closed from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The 105th annual Veterans Day Parade starts at 12:30 p.m. from 26th Street and Fifth Avenue and heads north until ending at 47th Street.

The parade’s highest honoree is Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, a Marine. According to the nonprofit United War Veterans Council, he is recognized for his valor in the Afghanistan War, in which he defied orders and went into a particularly dangerous area to help save American and Afghan troops who had gone missing, and in the Iraq War.

Philadelphia's Veterans Parade returns this Sunday, Nov. 10 and will travel down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

More than 2,000 participants are expected to be at the Veteran’s Parade in Uptown Saturday morning. It begins at 11 a.m., but the closures will begin a little earlier. In fact, around 8 a.m., the parade route shut downs will start on North Tryon Street from East 9th Street down to East Martin Luther King Boulevard.
