The Seattle Seahawks survived the Chicago Bears on Thursday, winning their Week 17 contest 6-3. The victory improved the Seahawks to 9-7 and kept their postseason dreams alive. Notably, what the result signified was far more telling than the on-field action, which was the lowest-scoring NFL game this season.

In their 49-year history, the Seahawks have been held to seven points or fewer 75 times. Only once have they won — Thursday night.

Few teams have been less efficient in the red zone over the past seven weeks than the Seahawks, but Mike Macdonald remains confident things will turn around.

During the fourth quarter, running back Kenneth Walker III exited the game with an ankle injury. Walker was listed as DOUBTFUL to return, and ultimately did not set foot on the field again. This was Walker’s first game back after missing the last two in what has become a frustrating and injury-laden season.

At times, the Seahawks on a short Christmas week were just trying to get through it. They stayed in playoff contention.

The Seattle Seahawks dropped another tough game on Sunday, losing 27-24 to the Minnesota Vikings. The defeat was once again incredibly costly, as the Seahawks are on the verge of being eliminated from the playoffs.

There are a number of potentially high-stakes games on tap for Week 18 in the NFL. For instance, the matchup between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings could potentially decide the NFC North and the top seed in the conference.

Regardless of whether or not the Seattle Seahawks make the playoffs, there is one major in-season accomplishment that I believe is worth spotlighting given the expectations of first-year head coach Mike Macdonald.
